The holidays are right around the corner and it won’t be long before Village Park is transformed into a winter wonderland of lights and Christmas carols, complete with Santa in his workshop! Clean up after the holidays and recycle those old televisions, computers, stereos, and more during Kannapolis’ E-Cycling Day on Saturday, January 14. Drop off electronic items at the Old Kannapolis Post Office on the corner of Vance St. and Dale Earnhardt Blvd. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The City will also provide paper shredding service free of charge.

Beginning February 7, the City of Kannapolis will hold the annual Citizens Academy. The eight-week program gives residents a behind-the-scenes lesson in government operations, including sessions focusing on police, fire, finance, economic development, planning and zoning, public works, and parks and recreation.

The City of Kannapolis is recycling! This exciting new program will help reduce the amount of garbage sent to the landfill by our residents and allow us to all help the environment. We strongly encourage everyone to take part and learn more about what, when and where to recycle by clicking here.
In a three month analysis of the Kannapolis curbside recycling program, the Kannapolis Public Works Department reported consistent monthly participation rates of 64 to 66 percent. Rates are consistent with statewide and national averages. Since the program began on July 1, almost 1,000 tons of waste has been diverted from the county landfill with a $37,000 savings in tipping fees.
