NEMC Joins Launch of Kannapolis Research Center

CONCORD , N.C., — NorthEast Medical Center, a 457-bed community hospital located in nearby Concord, will provide specialty care, among other services, on the new research center campus. Although the exact square footage has yet to be determined, officials at NorthEast estimate their facility build-out to be between 25,000 and 50,000 square feet, depending on the clinical offerings sited at this location.

NorthEast's participation will focus largely on providing specialty and subspecialty care for the campus and its community, including diagnostic services and integrative medicine (an array of alternative healthcare services built into a traditional medical plan of care). "As our medical center was originally built in 1937 to serve the healthcare needs of workers employed on this very site, we are, today, most proud to announce our sustaining and expansion of that commitment to this community,” said Laurence C. Hinsdale, CEO/President. From a research perspective, NorthEast Medical Center 's Clinical Research Institute currently participates in clinical trials with academic medical centers across the state, in addition to conducting smaller original research studies onsite at the medical center. NorthEast will work directly with the research centers on the new campus to determine future collaborative efforts.
