Economic & Tax Incentives

The City boasts a very favorable tax climate, ranked by the John Locke Foundation as having one of the lowest per capita tax collections in the state of North Carolina. The property tax rate in Kannapolis is $0.497. Kannapolis also offers an Industrial Incentive grant, and works creatively to partner with companies interested in relocating to the city.

To facilitate a recent relocation for ECS Enterprises, Kannapolis made multiple changes to their unified development ordinance. The City also worked with Biscayne Business Park, where ECS is located, to put in a new road and make other infrastructure improvements.

"Kannapolis jumped through hoops for us," says Cliff Sult, president, ECS Enterprises. "They cut the red tape and did everything imaginable to help us get into Biscayne."
