The Kannapolis City Council meets the second and
fourth Mondays monthly at 6 pm at the Kannapolis Train Station 201 South Main Street. You can register with the City Clerk at the
fourth Monday meeting to address City Council about any issue. You

Mr. Robert S. Misenheimer, Mayor

| Mr. Misenheimer was appointed to the Kannapolis City Council in May 1989 to fill an unexpired term. He has since served for 15 years. His current term expires in 2009.
A retired school administrator, Mr. Misenheimer worked in education for 36 years. He began as a junior high school teacher. He became principal of Shady Brook Elementary in 1963, and Jackson Park Elementary in 1968. He served at Jackson Park until 1980 when he moved to Central Cabarrus High School. He was principal of North West Middle School from 1980 to 1993.
Mr. Misenheimer volunteers regularly at NorthEast Medical Center. He is a member of New Gilead Reformed United Church of Christ where he is the treasurer and has served in various leadership positions including deacon, elder, and chair of the church and ministry commission.
He received is bachelors degree from Catawba College, and a masters degree from Appalachian State University. He earned the advanced certificate in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has been married to the former Bernie Hileman for 47 years. They have two daughters and three grandchildren.
First and foremost, my priority for the City of Kannapolis is economic development, said Mr. Misenheimer, because I believe this is where jobs will come from and that is our most pressing need at the present time. The future is extremely bright for the city even though we lost our largest employer. I . . . believe that in several years we are going to realize that even though it was extremely difficult for a lot of our citizens, it was for the best as we attract new businesses and jobs into our city.

| Mr. Cauthen was elected to the Kannapolis City Council in 1999. He has served five years. His current term expires in 2009. Mr. Cauthen retired from the Kannapolis Police Department with 27 years of service. He now owns a Bonding Company and Private Investigative Firm. He is a member of the DAV, Masons, Oasis Shrine, and Kannapolis Rotary Club. He serves on the Concord Kannapolis Transit Commission and the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Board. He is a member of Kimbal Memorial Lutheran Church in Kannapolis. He graduated from Northwest Cabarrus High School also in Kannapolis, and holds a degree in Criminal Justice from Central Piedmont Community College.

Richard Anderson was first elected to City Council in 1991.
He served from 1991 to 1993 as a Council member and as Mayor
from 1993 to 1997. In 1999, he was again elected to the Kannapolis
City Council. His current term expires in 2007.
Mr. Anderson attended Kannapolis City Schools, Burton Institute
of Charlotte, Catawba College and Southern Biscayne University.
His degree is in Business Management. He also has served in
the military. He retired in 1997 after 40 years of employment
with Cannon Mills later Fieldcrest Cannon. Besides serving
as an elected official, Mr. Anderson is also active in the
community. He served on the Board of Directors of the Cabarrus
County Rescue Squad, as a Boy Scout Master and Chairman of
the Kannapolis District Advancement Committee, American Red
Cross, The United Way of Central Carolinas, the YMCA, and
Trinity United Methodist Church Administrative Board. He and
his wife Marion have been married for 46 years and have four
children and eight grandchildren.
Mr. Anderson says, Kannapolis, NC is a unique city
built upon a rich textile heritage. My goal has always been
to blend our past with our current and future environments
for generations to come. Home is where your heart is, and
I love my city and its citizens.

Mr. Kenneth "Ken" B. Geathers

| Mr. Geathers was elected to the
city Council in 1984, the year Kannapolis incorporated as a
city. His current term expires in 2007. He worked at Pillowtex
Corporation for 34 years as a Human Resource Manager. Mr. Geathers
is currently employed as a Substance Abuse Coordinator at the
Bill Helfer VA Hospital in Salisbury, NC. He serves as the Citys
representatives on the Cabarrus Rowan Metropolitan Planning
Organization, which plans transportation projects and recommends
priorities to the North Carolina Department of Transportation,
and the Concord Kannapolis Transit Commission.
Mr. Geathers also serves the community as a member, past
president, and Paul Harris Fellow of the Kannapolis Rotary
Club. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Cannon
Memorial YMCA, and is president of the John R Mott Y Service
Club. He is the past chairman of the Board of Directors for
the Cabarrus County Chapter of the American Red Cross. He
is a member of First Baptist Church in Kannapolis where he
serves on the Board of Trustees and is the former treasurer.
Geathers is a 1970 graduate of Livingstone College, and a
veteran of the US Air Force. He is married to the former Mable
Reid. They have two children and one grandchild.
It is an honor and privilege to serve on the City Council
of Kannapolis, said Geathers. My number one priority
is to improve the quality of life for all of our citizens.

Roger Haas served as a member of the Kannapolis City Council from 1997-2001 and was appointed to fill a vacant council seat in 2006. He is president and founder of Adventures in Motorsports, a Kannapolis-based travel and tour company. Prior to the establishment of the company, he was Regional Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for UST, Inc, a Fortune 500 company. Roger has been a Kannapolis resident for over 40 years.
Roger is a graduate of Gardner-Webb University with a major in business. He completed additional management studies at Cornell University in New York. He is active in the community being a member of the Kannapolis Rotary Club (Paul Harris Fellow) and serving on the boards of the Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning Commission as well as the Cabarrus County Tourism Authority. Roger is a member of the First Baptist Church in Kannapolis where he serves as a Sunday School teacher. He and his wife Kathy have four children and three grandchildren.

Mr. Hinnant was elected to Kannapolis City Council in November
2001. His current term expires in 2009. He is the Principal
Consultant of dHinnant Business Solutions, Inc., which is
a management consultant firm specializing in logistics, finance,
marketing and import/export. He also worked as the Chief Operating
Officer of a major chemical corporation in Charlotte, NC,
and as the Executive Director of the NC Hazardous Waste Management
Commission in Raleigh, NC. Mr. Hinnant holds an undergraduate
and masters degree in chemistry from the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Mr. McCombs was elected to Kannapolis City Council in November 2005. His current term expires in 2009. Mr. McCombs retired as the city manager of Kannapolis in 1997. He has 29 years of service in governmental management, spending 12 of those years serving Kannapolis as its first manager. Before that, he served in the US Army Corps of Engineers in Inchon, Korea for two years.
He is a member of the International Management Association, the NC League of Municipalities, the National League of Cities, Rotary International where he was named a Paul Harris Fellow, the Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce, Cannon Memorial YMCA and the Kannapolis Centennial Steering Committee.
He is a member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church in Kannapolis where he serves on their finance committee. He graduated from N.C. State University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He also completed UNC Chapel Hill’s Institute of Government Municipal Administration Course. He and his wife Jan have two grown children and one grandchild. |
